Number available: (1) Scholarship ($2,000 per year for four years)

Description: 

Jane Kosterlitzky was a beloved elementary school teacher in Mapleton Public Schools, spending her career teaching kindergarten and third grade at Western Hills Elementary School. Jane was known for her warm, steady presence, her deep commitment to early literacy and foundational learning, and her ability to spark joy and curiosity in young learners.

This scholarship honors Jane’s life and legacy by supporting a Mapleton graduate who plans to become an educator. The award provides $2,000 per year for four years to help defray the cost of college tuition, books, or other approved educational expenses for a student preparing to enter the teaching profession.

Eligibility: 

  • Applicant must be a resident of Colorado and attend Mapleton Public Schools. 
  • Applicant must be planning to attend an accredited college, university or apprenticeship program in the next academic year.
  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree in education, early childhood education, elementary education, or secondary education; leading to teacher licensure.

Requirements: 

  • Submit application form and all common application requirements (see application checklist). 
  • Finalists for this scholarship will be required to participate in an interview process.
