Scholar Stories

Mateo, Superintendent's Scholarship

The upcoming winter semester will be my last at the University of Michigan. I will be graduating at the end of the term with two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Studies and a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish. During my time at Michigan, I have been able to explore diverse academic pursuits, cross paths with talented individuals, and build my personal and professional identity. Post-graduation, I will be joining the Teach for America Corps in Phoenix, Arizona where I will be teaching secondary math for two years while pursuing a M.Ed. at Arizona State University. Although I have battled through a variety of personal and financial challenges, I am closing my undergraduate career with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for my community, family, friends, and experiences. Thank you to the MEF for being a constant support over the past four years. Cannot wait to see the impact you continue to have on Mapleton Public Schools!

Emily, CoreCivic Back on Track Scholar

"Thanks to your generosity, I will be the first in my family to graduate college. I will be graduating this May with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology at 20 years old. Following my graduation, I plan to spend a year working in order to save money and apply for scholarships for graduate school, where I hope to earn a Master’s in Sociology. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for you. Without your support, I would have never been able to afford a college education. You are making my dreams a reality and literally changing the course of my life. Thank you for your kindness and generosity."          -Emily

Andrea, Adams County Scholarship Fund

"Thank you so much for this opportunity because in the short amount of time of one semester my eyes have been opened to the variety of opportunities there are out there. This has only motivated me even more to continue working hard towards my dream of having a degree. This past semester I was able to experience my first business classes and an internship with Gary Community Ventures and this fueled my excitement of knowing that there are so many great experiences where not only do you learn so much and find new opportunities, but also meet great people along the way. Thank you, because if it were not for this scholarship, I would not have the opportunity to have had these great experiences." - Andrea

Victoria, Adams County Scholarship Fund
