The Charlotte Ciancio Superintendent Legacy Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who exemplifies tenacity, empathy, and vision, and has shown unwavering dedication to personal growth, investment in others, and the betterment of their community. Superintendent Ciancio’s career in public education spans more than 40 years, 24 of which were spent as the Superintendent of the school district she and her siblings were born and raised in, Mapleton Public Schools. As Superintendent, Ms. Ciancio was the visionary of an audacious reinvention campaign that sought to re-engage students in their education through a system of choice and small-by-design schools. With rigor, relationships, relevance, and choice as core values, Superintendent Ciancio reimaged the way education could be provided by removing obstacles to learning, supporting small, safe, family-like environments, and not just believing, but investing in the notion that all students can achieve their dreams. Scholarship recipients will show they understand that success is not just about individual achievement, but about lifting others up along the way. The Superintendent Scholarship aims to empower exceptional individuals to continue their educational journey, achieve post-secondary success, and provide leadership for impactful, long-term improvement efforts.
Eligibility:

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Mapleton Public Schools.

Applicant must be eligible for and planning to attend an accredited college/ university or apprenticeship program in the next academic year.

Finalists for this scholarship will be required to participate in an interview process.
